[About an hour after this]The cracking of bones as they reset into place can't have been a pleasant sound. Neither could the sight of Methos' twisted and broken body slowly untwisting itself back into something that looks like it could be alive ( Read more... )

Illyria hasn't left, or if she has, it hasn't been for longer than a few minutes at a time. She vaguely resents him for reasons she can't put her finger on. For asking a promise of her she couldn't - wouldn't - keep, not in the way he meant. For expecting her to watch this, to sit there unable to do anything, unsure if he would wake from this, for how could something so close to human? It had taken longer, and she'd had time to grow annoyed with herself for feeling pangs of something close to worry on top of the annoyance she already felt.

But she was not going to give him the satisfaction of knowing how very angry she was. So she simply stares at him from her spot in a chair a few feet away, and replies, calmly.

"I picked a direction."

He coughs, gulping for air, as the last of the internal injuries heal themselves.

"You picked... Did I fail to specify that it should have been a direction away from the mortals?!"

"You may have done so, yes." Illyria replies, perhaps just to be contrary.

"I kept my word. Your secret has not been revealed. There were no witnesses, and if there were, I would have dealt with them."

She keeps icy eyes fixed upon him, daring him to challenge her decision.

"And how were you planning to explain the fact that although I'm not dead as previously expected, I'm also no longer infected?"

He stands, with some difficulty, and stretches out, popping joints back into place.

"Why did you do this?"

Methos -- well, Adam to pretty much everyone but Illyria -- looks over to Harper and puts on his best 'bzuh' face.

"Hell if I know. Last thing I remember, I was up on the roof, ready to see if I could fly. I remember Illyria was there. She said something in some weird language, and I blacked out. Next thing I know, I'm here, good as new."

"I don't know. Maybe it was her. Maybe she just knocked me out and got me to someone who could. But, yeah, one way or another, I guess I'm okay. Everyone else good, too, then?"
