536, he had said. 536. Which meant up one floor from the fourth... And then...

Uh.

Three comes after four, right...?

Whatever. The guy had said he'd leave the door open. It wouldn't be hard to find. There were more important things to deal with than numbers.

Things like deciding whether or not he was walking into a trap. The guy had blatantly told him that he was a heretic, and, well, the Teutonic Order had dealt with enough of those to know how dangerous they are.

That's why he hadn't wanted to meet with Hayden in his own room. Can't invite enemies into your home, you know? They'll just learn the layout and set up an ambush for the next time you left.

And the whole fact that his room was now a burnt out mess. That was a pretty important factor in deciding where to meet. Uh. Yeah.

It takes a bit longer than it should, but eventually the Teutonic Order is poking his soot-covered head through Hayden's doorway.

"You there?!"

Feel free to notice the fact that this kid stinks. He's covered in soot and god-knows what else, hasn't ( ... )

There were the signs the apartment was occupied, a photo album closed on the couch, a few books scattered about, one with a piece of folded tape serving as a book mark. Hayden came out of the kitchen, and managed not to wrinkle his nose. For the love of God, didn't the kid know what a bath was? Then again, if what he could recall from history classes was right, hadn't bathing been considered unmanly at some points in time? Just his luck.

"Good day, I see you managed to find the place alright." He'd worn a sweater and gloves, covering up his virus infected arm. No good to have the kid complaining about that while he was trying to teach him. He indicated a small table he'd drug in from another room, and the two chairs. A few notebooks and pencils lay on it, along with some pens.

"When you're ready, we'll start the lessons."

He moves in cautiously, as suspicious as ever. Checking left, right, up, down-- And there's nothing there. No pagans hiding behind the door, no traps, not even a ballista in sight. The coast was clear.

He walks to the table, leaving a trail of soot behind him.

"What's that?" His hands go instantly to the pencils, poking at the tips. Pre-pencils, the quill pen were used for happy-fun time parchment, which means wtf is this shit. Even the notebooks are weird.

There's a high probability that he's already broken the tip off one of the pencils in the first three seconds of holding them.

A raised eyebrow. He was less cautious then that, and Hayden would admit he was pretty damn paranoid in his own right. He sighed at the trail of soot, making a note to clean it up later. The Teutonic Order was making a mess of things, but then again, he seemed to be good at it ( ... )
