ROFL, I think perhaps Elham should just stop arranging to meet folk who are passing through Frankfurt :-) The same thing happened to me two years ago, I was supposed to have one and a half hour stopover on the way to Japan, in the end we were especially escorted from our plane direct to boarding on the flight to Japan, because our flight out of Heathrow had been so delayed.
Luckily I got to actually stay in Frankfurt last year and it was wonderful....and I got to meet up with Elham
I'm not offended by Warsteiner, but ... it's no Heineken in Amsterdam. That's all I'm saying.
I'd love to take you down to the Hertog Jan brewery some day. Small breweries have a charm all their own!
I guess you would have told me by now if there were any chance we could meet, so I'll just continue to wave in your direction every now and then, and enjoy the thought that you are (relatively speaking) very very close. Have fun!
hee hee! The long version is that I don't actually like beer at all. I often say I'm not grown up enough to drink it :)
So I was 40 when I finally had a whole glass of beer that I liked! The conclusion I came to was that if I'm IN the city it's brewed in and having it "frisch vom fas" (sp?), then I evidently like it :)
The bummer is that I didn't have any Beck's last year in Bremen :(
So I don't know what's brewed here in Oberhausen, but I should try it, no?
Re: Bitburger -- it's more of a Pils, right? Unk doesn't prefer pilsner, so I never tried it. But maybe I'd like it. hmmmmm
oh yeah -- a bunch of the gang went to Köln the first night for dinner (I told them I'd been there already -- in 1984 to renew my passport), and they had Kölsch. Unk said it was good that it was so watery, because they were all dehydrated! LOL
He loves Diebels Alt -- that's way too dark for me. But maybe I'd like Kölsch ...
