Unless there are sharks, squid, octopi, or perhaps Kraken, the Leviathan, Charybdis, Scylla, Curruid, Yacumama, or other sea monsters in the water, this curse is looking fairly harmless.

I doubt leviathan would appreciate coming into such a scene either. How such a scenery change is connected to a day for love and that sort is something I'm not too sure of.

I thought that the italians as a whole were more known for religious and art... It makes for a pretty picture outside the window at least.

To any intelligent person, yes. The whole idea of romance, and romance languages as deriving from the Romans who spoke Latin (and thus languages with roots in Latin are considered romance languages), the Romans as the ancestors of the Italians, who apparently are "lovers" before "fighters" ... is a popular but highly illogical one.
