I didn't want to be Farrah Fawcett, either, and I don't know anyone who did. We live in a different world than celebrity followers, I guess. Last night I heard a Parade magazine editor liken Michael Jackson's death to that of President Kennedy, not in terms of "where were you when" but overall historical importance. I was appalled.

I think you are right - we are in a different world that celebrity followers. I am stunned that someone would think of this singer in relation of important to a President.
I have singers/musicians/actors whom I really love. But I can't see going crazy about it (although I did shed some real tears, but not a lot, at the deaths of Fred Rogers and of Jim Henson, both of whom were very positive influences to me).
But I couldn't see going on a vigil.
And I can't image the news covering it 24/7. At least tonight they are able to talk about other stuff...
