And also, wow! what a lot of ripening to happen in such a short time. This has such terrific potential, and is already a terrific tale, the tone of the relationship such a crucial and well-considered thing.

I'll send more later when it's not 5:14a.m.

You, yes you, helped so much with this one. You have a knack for making me see where my focus truly is. After tonight, my brain should be working well enough to resume the challenge of figuring out part two: afternoon in the park with Ethan.

As you can see, the "fic! written for me!" won out. ;)

And I'm so very, very glad it did, because this is just... oh, this is wonderful. I love Giles in this; he's perfect, and the entire thing works so well, and is just so richly detailed....

(And, like all good Giles/Ethan stories, it hurts my heart in just the right way, because it's a story we know the end to.)

I'll be looking forward to part 2.

I'm so glad it's working for you! And my apologies for not being able to complete it all for the ficathon day; I bit off a bit more than I could chew in the time I had. I kinda got drawn deeper into the exploration of this phase of their relationship, which really grabbed me as I started thinking about how it might have gone.

I hope the conclusion will continue to satisfy.

Oh, it was a lovely long chunk of story, which was nice. (And I can't really complain, as you could have written me a 500-word ficlet.)

*clings to lovely fic* I suspect you're going to break our hearts with this... not that that's a bad thing, just bracing myself.

Such a great way of shifting the sense of the Giles/Ethan dynamic that I feel I've read so many times by highlighting Giles insecurities and casting Ethan as a grouding rather than simply a disruptive force. I'll definitely be watching for the rest of this.

Thank you! I'm surprised I don't read this version of the dynamic more often: Giles was not at a resourceful place at that moment in his life. I hope part 2 isn't too far away-- right now it's spinning around like a high-pressure hose with nobody hanging onto it.
