I rewatched the original Karate Kid yesterday. I think I hadn't seen it since it was originally in theaters. I found that indeed, it was a decent movie, improbable but well-constructed and fun. And of course it does the mentor/student thing to the extreme, which hits me hard. Not talking anything shippy here, just the core relationship ( Read more... )

Seeking Solace went the way of the dodos? Oh sigh.

My problem with that otherwise lovely bit of fencing-taking-a-left-at-Albuquerque is the bit of dialog in the middle where Giles says he considers Xander a friend etc etc. It reads all wrong to me. Giles would *never admit such a thing* unless in extreme circumstances. He would glower, grump, say something biting and completely self-disguising, and then proceed as the fic describes. WHERE'S THE SNARK?

I didn't realize Seeking Solace was gone. I just thought Mireille had decided to try and hide this one. Why? Who can say?

Yeah. That's the exact spot I have a problem with, too. Doesn't fit.

Ok, I fell in love with "Amaze" and am currently making my way through the Solar Fields album. Thanks for the recs!

Karate Kid. I can't remember the last time I watched it. Maybe it's time to break it out and watch it with the boys. :)

"Amaze" is just huge, isn't it? Love it. The Solar Fields recording is a very different thing, and I have been putting that on just to get myself into a writing mood.

Yeah, I actually went to iTunes and bought the LP for $1.99 which has 4 versions of it. :) Also, I bookmarked Solar Fields since I can stream it for free. Definitely good stuff to write to. Thanks again!

It was adorable! The kid went on a date with a girl he liked and his mom drove them! They went to a mini amusement park!
