"Memory" commentary (Giles/Xander, FRM)

Aug 18, 2009 09:15

At fuzzyboo03's request (from last month), DVD commentary on "Memory". The story itself isn't very kinky (unless tattooing bothers you), but it takes place in the context of a fairly kinky Giles/Xander relationship, set post-Chosen. Do not follow the cut if any of these traits displease you.

A tonal mess... )

Oooh, thanks!

This was really interesting. I'm quite fascinated with tattoos myself, and it was great to hear about the process for this.

I happen to love this series, and the tone shifts from episode to episode felt organic to me. The commentary was a a really nice look into your process. Thanks for sharing it ( ... )

Sorry, but I found The Attic just recently and have been enjoying it very much. Xander/Giles is not my favorite pairing - except when it's your work. I read your stuff because it's always good, usually insightful, and I don't think you have ever pushed my "oh for crying out loud" Cute Schmoop Button. Your taste isn't always in sync with mine but oh well - hey, you made me believe - and be interestd in! - your Blackmail series, and that is definitely not my kink.

I like the previous comment that called Attic 'organic'. Yes. Each story self-contained, with different flavors that merge and change. This is not a bad thing.

Very much enjoyed reading your commentaries here, too. I hadn't thought one way or another about the level of detail of your research - which is a compliment - I should be immersed in reading your story, not pondering How She Wrote That Part. But your research and attention to detail DO pay off. You write true stuff :-)

I'm a huge fan of your Giles/Xander stories. (Why do I think I'm probably the only person still hoping for another part of ... I think you called it "Rough Boys"?) I happened to love the Attic series too. I didn't find it to be all over the map so to speak because it read like real life to me. A real relationship and much as I love the "oh that's not gonna happen in any world" fic I'm a sucker for fic that shows off real relationships with real problems and real ups and downs. And hey, real relationships? they're all over the map! (I loved Weapons for that reason actually. You've got this really hot scene that then shifts into this deeper experience for Giles because of the emotions it brings out. And it allows Xander to learn about him on another level, one he doesn't share easily.

Can I torture my characters enough? When I read that I heard Morticia Addams saying "Don't torture yourself Gomez. That's my job." No idea why but it amused me.

I'm still hoping for more Rough Boys, too. Just thought I'd agree with that...I can hope...but whatever you choos to write, I'll read. :}
