I adore this verse! What I particularly liked about this part was how similar their "awakening" was and how Giles felt more connected to Buffy because of it.
I enjoyed thinking about the ways that awakening would be the same, and the ways it would be different. But the moment of finally having a name for the desires would be similar. Thanks for commenting!
Giles' difficulty confessing love was one of his driving forces in CD, too. I think it's an intensely vulnerable state for him. I like that you've addressed it. :)
There are, I think, two places in the series where somebody tells him they love him (Jenny in S2, Buffy in S5) and he doesn't make the expected reply in either case. The only time he ever says it is when he's singing to Buffy in OMWF. In short, yeah. With you there.
Okay, I have to say, you write beautiful fic. I'm not normally into the BDSM end of the pool, and I've read and still read a great deal more slash than het, but wow. I love that it's not all about sex, that the characterization is spot-on enough to be believable, even with the decidedly non-canon kinks. I love the interplay between Giles and Buffy, and the last bit with Xander being sort of protective and watchful for both Buffy and Giles' sake was fantastic and true to the character.
And it's hot, too. Did I mention that?
Anyway, I'm really enjoying your fic, and I'm rather remiss on commenting on the Core Four fic you've written, but I wanted to tell you how awesome and lovely your fic is, most especially in characterization. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed these stories. There are few things a fanfic writer loves as much as being complimented for good characterization, let me tell you. Getting the characters we all love so much feeling right, even as they do things they never did in canon, is where I invest all the sweat.
