IMHO it is always full of wonderful stuff--the last time around, the art was also pretty amazing, and so far it all looks to be up to the same impossible standard. I had a pile of reading I needed to do in the last few days, so I was thrilled to have some Exchange material mixed in there to help things along. This is quite a talented group of folks, whipped into shape by the bestest mods around!
It must've been my beloved Shug (and probably Annie) who convinced me to dive in the first time (I think this is my third year, and I've been proud of each one). Though I don't write SSHG any more (focusing now on the ofics), I do still do the Exchange, because the challenge is so compelling. I never feel worthy enough, but I am always wildly inspired and then thrilled to read all the results.
Have been busy as usual (never enough acting work to make me happy, but quite a lot of writing this year, so there's something). Tonks said you suggested a fangurly getogether next summer, when she's back here again--I think that's a grand idea!! *smooches*
Ahh. You're right, these things do present a lovely challenge. I've found I can practically only finish something if I've got a looming deadline, I think. heh. Figures.
Oooh, yes, that sounds great! Actually, my current timeline is to move to LA around March. ish. I hope. That's the goal anyway.
It wasn't always as effing huge as it is this year, but if you're like me, a goodly number of your favorite SSHG fics were written for the exchange.
I totally lucked into finding the sign-ups for the winter 2006 round of the exchange, since I was very new to LJ, and I've participated ever since. It's all Bambu's fault! :D
I know that I remembered thinking I'd read some quality stuff from the exchange and it is one of the better ones out there. Having participated, finally, it seems that much more special I guess.
