Heheh - that's my usual modus operandii with my contest pieces, but I know what you mean - without having it confirmed that that the meaning has come across properly unbeta-ed pieces can be a bit hit and miss, and posting a bit more fraught with angstyness.

I will get back to the RenIshi soon - I had a Saiyuki challenge fic to write, and now my brain is eated by RenGrimm....

"fraught with angstyness", yep you got it on the nose. I was a mess, but I have been so unhappy with my writing lately that I had hoped that posting something would give me a bit of my confidence back. Still waiting. *laughs*

Always nice to read serious-and-reflective Kisuke! I like that you don't shy away from his flaws, or his awareness of them. Sometimes I suspect there's not much he wouldn't do the same way, given a do-over.

I think Urahara's internal dialog is much different from the external we are used to hearing.

I agree that there is little he would change if given the chance and I think he knows perfectly well what his flaws are and he rarely apologizes for them.

I'm so happy you seem to have gotten so much out of such a short and simple story.

Urahara Kisuke...forever the observer in a world of actors. This is about his involvement with two of those actors and how he affected them. He called Yoruichi to go with him. He understood that it had hurt an unintended. However, the action is never recanted. He needed her as much as any other, even with an understanding of the situation, he needed her. That means much to him and sets in place emotion and a wonderful last line. As he looks at the two fight, he understands now they were and are an inseparable set.
