Also, he's adorably happy when he's right about something sciencey. So much so that he plainly doesn't listen to the rest of Sam's lecture. So it has angsty Jack AND cute Jack.
Also, *waves threateningly at you re. String Theory stoppage*
Oh yeah! He's like "I was *right*!" But it kinda makes it even more creepy, because you know that other scary guy is under there, hidden a bit too well. I just can't love Jack enough today.
I was just kidding! I have at least three more long arcs planned. And then I thought I could be crazy and open myself to prompts for the 'verse.
Sigh. Apparently many of us will be late to the apocalypse. Oops.
Red Sky. The episode I almost actually stopped watching because the science was so very painful. But I agree that Jack moment was FANTASTIC. Have you ever compared Daniel's anger to Jack's? I feel like Jack's is shorter lived and more intense - but also less unexpected. Where Daniel's is this deep burning fire that doesn't really flare but doesn't leave. (I compare the Red Sky Jack moment with Daniel's moment on Netu when he tells Apophis that Amaunet is dead - the pure hatred in his voice is eviscerating).
Leave it to me to late for the end of the world. Hehe.
I.E. the science. You are making me strangely happy that I never went past high school chemistry. And even that was just summer school and therefore passed in a haze of blowing things up and being really confused by the damn s and r orbit thingies. (oh yeah. I am totally on when it comes to science.)
Daniel is one of those slow fuse guys who take a long time to work up enough anger, but then, oh lord, watch out.
I gotta figure, if I'm going to be late to anything, end of the world might top my list...
hee :) Of course, what I don't complain about is the glee when they actually get something right. And I'm grinning at your comment because I LOVE atomic orbital theory. I could play with all the pretty symmetry for hours. right. < / endgeeking>
Daniel is one those slow fuses - but I think that means he's also very slow to cool down. Jack will anger fast, explode, calm down. Daniel winds up and THINKS and smolders and is deadly scary dangerous (maybe also because you can tell Jack is dangerous when he walks into a room - you don't expect Daniel to be) and holds grudges well and takes a long time to cool down. And then there is Teal'c and his Jaffa revenge...
Guh, yes! His intensity is so very hot. He can be all light and joking one minute, but the second something happens to one of his people, he goes all still and intense, and then he just explodes. And that mysterious part of him makes you not at all sure he'll do the right thing. DAMN.
Guh pretty much sums it up. I'm sitting here wishing I could capture that Jack in a fic and feeling woefully inadequate. Plus, I kinda have the strange urge to lick him when he gets like that. But I think I am a bit Jack obsessed at the moment. Every single fic I am working on right now is in his POV. Lol.
I love that scene in Red Sky. There's also something about how he pulls of his hat and throws it down. It's something in his expression and way he moves that I'm completely unable to articulate. I can just watch the throwing that hat down part over and over. Jack is a really scary SOB in that moment.
