[More images of tattooed hands, the same as in his last post. He's still working on that "positioning himself in focus" thing.]

I've no desire to use this technology any more than I have to. It's only more magic by another name. But I have a question, and it needs to be asked.

[He finally moves himself properly into focus, leaning over the ( Read more... )

I am unaware of it changing people, but a friend of mine who showed up after I did remembers events that I did not take part in, yet claims I was there... Not quite different paths, but...

[A pause as he considers this.]

Events from your past, or your future?

From my future. It seems all the events that I've encountered with him match up.

Different times, now? The madness continues.

[A sigh.]

But it's not the same.

[Did she just hear that right? Fenris called her a friend?

When the camera turns on, it's obvious she's having the same focusing problems that Fenris is having, but she manages to resolve it after some messing around with it.]

Did you say what I thought you said?

[He frowns at her for a moment.]

What?

[And then he's going over what he said, trying to think of what could produce that stupid expression on her face, and--

Oh. Shit.]

A slip of the tongue. Read nothing into it.

[She gives him a tiny smile, teasing him.]

Are you sure it was just a slip of the tongue? It seems like an odd thing to say just for that.

Do not mock me, witch.

[And he bristles all spiky-like.]

These are computers, not magic. Anyway, I guess this place can bring people from different versions of the same world.

They're implements that show me faces and voices from halfway across the tower. It's magic, and a dangerous sort--not as if there's any other.

You "guess."

It's technology. Just 'cause you don't get how it works doesn't make it magic.

Well, I know, actually.

No one has explained to me how technology is any different than magic, and the results are similar enough.

How do you know?

Doubtful.

[He pauses to take in the sight of this strange new...well, probably troll, but he looks different than the others, for sure.]

Why do you say that?

[video] dualscars September 29 2011, 04:28:06 UTC
Because I've always been this way.

[aka he's too close-minded to think anything else.]

I have heard such thing as "parallel universes", however.

[A slow arch of one brow. Oh really.]

You're certain of that.

[Shrug.]

Explain these...parallel universes.

I'm not sure about changing people, but I have experienced some oddities along the same line.

There are also people who know 'me' but not me as I am now.

[He can alter memories, erase them, but he wonders to what extent these people running the Tower can. Why they would? At least the way they have been if that's the case. It made no sense.]

Not you as you are now?

This person I know, she remembers a friend we shared very differently.

[Although, unbeknownst to him, not as differently as she could.]

But we're both from the same...time, as absurd as it is to even need to say it.

Apologies good elf for the slowness. groovy_mutation October 5 2011, 05:18:56 UTC
A young lady here says she knows me, but I'm an old man in her time.

... so then you're speaking of some sort of alternate time? Or that is what it would allude to.

And that is puzzling enough. If the world's destroyed, how can you live to be an old man?

[A curl of his mouth.]

They lie to us. But why bother, if they could change our minds to suit their whims?

[He shakes his head.]

I don't know what you mean, by "alternate time."
