I haven't been doing too much finished art lately because I've been having fun trying out some new watercolors in my sketchbook (yay for the watercolor test sheet from Daniel Smith!).

I wanted to zero in on which of the quinacridone reds and pinks I like the best, so I did a simple composition of triangles.

Oh I loved the original, but the final ones are every bit as splendid, if not more so.

I love the strokiness, how you can see the paint was brushed on. It's so... painty! I love it.

i'm glad to hear that you like the painty-ness. that was the one thing i was a bit on the fence about. i guess i'm always seeking another way to get the smoothness of prisma markers, but more variety from mixing my own colors. glad to hear that the streaky/painty look can be good! :)

thanks! that one's definitely my favorite of the bunch.

i like the title suggestion too, though now that i think about it, maybe "origami instructions" would be funnier. then the impossible could be implied?!

I think they're really really awesome! I personally prefer the softer look without the Photoshop lines, but take that with the bushel of salt that my lack of experience entails. :)

i think the original also looks good, no doubt. Maybe it's the graphic artist in me that likes the suped up color. You have to see the real thing in person sometime. the painting looks really really good.
