Best movie EVER......Grave of the Fireflies

 I just watched the anime version and live action version of Grave of the Fireflies and I'm crying my eyes out. Both versions are great but I think the live action one was better and pulled at my heartstrings more. Below is the first ep of each version. Warning: have tissues ready!!

i watched the anime as a child, i felt so sad for the siblings. but when i grew older and learned more about what Japanese army had done to the fellow citizens of my country; that movie could hardly touch me any longer. right now...i feel nothing.

Without knowing what country you are from, I can't exactly reply specific. But I have to ask you. Was it the Japanese people or the government? My guess would be the government and not the people. Look at what the US did to Japan? Terrible. Look at what Germany did to their own people. Look at what the Japanese did to the Chinese. Horrific! (currently reading 'The Rape of Nanking') The list goes on and on. But can we blame the innocent people living in whatever country for the terrible crimes that the governing bodies of that country did?

did you notice that i said i once felt sad for the siblings? and where did you see me blaming the innocent citizens in my reply?am i wrong to express that i no longer feel for that movie? does what i say really equals to i 'blame' the innocent people

I guess I read your reply wrong. Im sorry. I read it as you saying that they got what was coming to them just because they were Japanese. Im not trying to excuse anyone at fault.

D'aww. I watched the anime version of it in my 8th grade Japanese class..I almost cried.
