$13.50 a week GOSH, that's like you know one morning tea with her girlfriends, three takeaway lattes...

It's not even a book, or a movie ticket or an aerobics class. It's NOTHING!!!! In fact, it's around 0.4% of her husband's before tax wages)

Maybe she can switch to homebrand cat food seeing as she's SO HARD DONE BY!!!!

I'm sure I've got a few old tins of food that have been here since I moved in 20-odd years ago I can give her.

I wonder if she smokes. If so, that's maybe half a pack a week?

What REALLY annoys me is the "It will cost this person $x a week" figures.

It might cost that if they don't change purchasing behaviour, but the whole point of the carbon tax is to change behaviour through price signalling.

So yes it might cost her $13.50 a week, or she could switch to products that are produced closer to home, so incurring less transport costs.
I bet she won't though. I bet she'll enjoying bitching about it to her friends over specially imported coffee.

Yes, that argument pisses me off too. "Such and such will cost me blah blah blah." SO?
