The basement has a litterbox and a door. That is my preferred solution to an attack of the Steve.

This is an excellent point and a very fine strategy, on occasions when I can get him to stay in the basement long enough to close the door. But also, watching cats grooving to Handel arias or Schubert lieder is kind of inherently amusing.
