Any idea if the Hopkins/Keira Knightley film is still being made? I find no trace. TWO Lears in swift succession would be weird.

I hope Pacino retains the Brooklyn Jew accent he developed for Shylock in his interpretation of Lear, because you know what Lear needs? More latkes and a big kiss on the kepi.

It's still listed on IMDb, with filming supposed to start this month. Who knows if that's accurate, but there we are. (The first thing I did when I saw this post was check, because it *does* seem weird!)

I can't wrap my mind around the idea of Al Pacino as Lear, I think because my brain keeps defaulting to his Shylock.

Hey, I'm not making a value judgment. But my students really do love Pacino!Shylock. One guy in particular.
