We spent vacation there four times already - in a small village near North Conway, called Edelweiss. There are three ponds for swimming that kids love, Kangamangus for hiking that we love, and StoryLand not far away.

Sounds great. I was thinking of somewhere near North Conway, too (and that's where Echo lake is, too).

It is near North Conway, about 5 minutes driving. We went to Echo lake once, but it is a state park, so it is pretty crowded. This village where we stay nobody knows about, so there are only residents on the beach, which makes it a lot more "cozy". StoryLand is about half hour drive away.

I'll definitely look it up. Every time we went to Echo lake, it wasn't crowded at all, but I guess we were comparing it to Walden, not to a lake with two people there :)
