The "enhanced pat downs" I mentioned earlier are, by the way, a violation of the Fourth Amendment (protection against unreasonable search and seizure, for those who don't know). They're unquestionably government-sanctioned sexual assault on a mass scale

Fucking seriously. I dunno what's worse: The people who passively accept this shit or the ones who actively defend it as "necessary". It is never fucking necessary for a strange person to look at or put their hands on my junk unless they're a doctor.

It's so telling that "enhanced pat-downs" are used only on people who won't go through the body scanners. Nothing like a touch of sexual assault to intimidate the public into walking into machines that are probably not good for their health and are also a complete violation of privacy.

TSA employees have verified that this is precisely the point of the pat downs. They yell "WE HAVE AN OPT-OUT!" when someone opts out to ensure that everyone in line is watching the little cautionary drama as it unfolds.

Yup. They say that you can request it be done in private, but making a big show of carting someone off to be groped in a back room somewhere gets the point across just the same. And this isn't even touching on the TSA agent who was arrested and charged with multiple sex-related crimes against a child at Logan Airport back in March.

See, that just doesn't work on everyone. I would much rather a public groping that an x-ray picture - the exhibitionist in me finds the idea of being on display like that amusing, and nobody can save a copy of a groping and upload it to the internet! A scan-pic OTOH...
