Having done a ton of personal research into drug use and creativity my thought on the cannabis study is this:

1. Cannabis taken on it's own will make you super lazy which will reduce creative thinking and brainstorming.

2. Cannabis taken with any speed based chemical (even coffee) will encourage creative thinking and brainstorming until the speed based chemical wears off and you will then become lazy again.

3. This is why Hunter, Keith, Hendrix and all the seriously creative pot heads were also doing a ton of coke and speed as well.

11 Ideas Philosophers REFUSE To Take Seriously (#8 is m cartesiandaemon October 6 2016, 12:50:46 UTC
:)

I don't know, I think it's a bit eclipsed now, but I think the philosophical ideas "rich people are better than poor people" and "people should be enslaved" go back to Plato :(

I don't think the person who wrote that article about philosophy has spent any time at all around any actual philosophers ever. And probably not read much philosophy either. The smoking gun is 'nobody ever sticks up for evil'; I mean, you've got the entire field of moral philosophy right there.

I see myself as a powerful counterexample to the theory that reading literary fiction improves social skills.

Understanding of norms: Children overeagerly seeking so cartesiandaemon October 6 2016, 12:54:29 UTC
I'm not sure this is a surprise to people who've met children (or people), but it's interesting to see it specifically studied.

Ugh, it's no surprise that a racist home secretary (but I repeat myself) went on to become a racist prime minister, but I'd been hoping it wouldn't happen so quickly, and with such ineffective opposition.

Labour really need to get their act together and start doing their job and actually opposing this stuff. Although I don't have much hope that they'll do anything better than "we also want to get rid of immigrants but we'll look a bit sad about it".
