It's clear from the story that the "personal" Twitter account was being followed by professional contacts and that she could have said things there that risked bringing her employer into disrepute. In which case her employer would have had an interest and would be entitled to consider her conduct in that forum as relating to her employment.

So I'm not sure that your link summary quite fairly represents the underlying content. How about something like "If your followers are professional contacts it might be possible to get sacked for personal Twitter use".

I admit I'm not knowledgeable about Twitter, but can you control who your followers are? I had thought not, in which case your wording in turn boils down to "If your professional contacts happen to start following you, whether you knew about it or not, then you can suddenly find your personal Twitter account has turned into a sackable offence".

Yes indeed. You are quite right.

You can't control who your followers are, but you can keep an eye on them If you were being followed by 50 professional contacts and you didn't know then that would beg a number of questions.

You can't control who your followers areYou can, actually - blocking a user forces them to unfollow you, and if you leave them blocked they can't refollow you (or view your tweets while logged in ( ... )

Well okay the election commission needs to get moving on that fast and change the rules about political ads being placed on youtube channels. The Tories are circumventing the rule in a highly dubious fashion, which is hardly surprising given the guy they've got running their election campaign.

I hope it backfires on them big time. But I suspect it won't, and they'll get away with it.

I really, really like the idea of Greece claiming reparations from Germany. Hah!

If the Tories are going to go all American in their campaigns, they're going to have to learn to stop calling the things "adverts". We say "ads" over here.
