I think your title slightly oversells this item. What's been seen is a thin cosmic web of cold intergalactic gas. It's hypothesized that this is accompanying dark matter, but it's still not direct detection of dark matter.

Of course, if the dark matter theory modelling suggested there was this web and then it was observed, that's good confirmation for the theory. So it's still pretty awesome.
