"Sometimes I forget how beautiful Scotland is"

You should look up from your book more when you are on the way home from work.

We do get lovely sunsets sometimes, and some of the views in Edinburgh are great, but my walk home is not as pretty as most of those. And I like novelty.

Depending where I get off the bus and where tram works are that week, my jouirney home can sometimes take me along Princes Street then along Regent Road, which works out well as far as views are concerned.

One of the (few) benefits to commuting by rail when I lived in Stirling was that, waiting at Edinburgh Park station after work at the right time of year, you would get a perfect view of the sun setting in the West since it was fairly flat with the track running in that direction. If you were there at just the right time, the sun would be setting behind a bridge and would briefly be visible through the arch of the bridge which looked pretty awesome.

Yeah, the nice thing about my walk to work in the industrial park in Stirling was that on the week around the shortest day of the year sunrise would be during my walk to work, with ice on the ground and it looked amazing. I'd still have gotten bored of it after a fortnight, of course :->

Huh. I've always thought "let not the sun go down upon your wrath" was a pretty sound idea; nice to have further empirical backing.
