But I do think it's better for the show to go out on a relative high. I know plenty of people disagree with me but I think seasons four and five have been pretty bloody good.

So do I and I agree about the show going out on a relative high too. I'll be sad to see it go but I'm glad it's going while I still love it. In British TV terms it's done amazingly well to get five series and 65 episodes and I'm very proud of it for achieving that.

I made many friends who are still dear friends to this day.

This is the true value of fandom I think in introducing like-minded people to each other.

Now give us an awesome ending.

Did the cast and crew of Merlin know this would be the final series before they finished filming? Will it be a rush job to tie up loose ends or did they have time to give us a considered ending?

I echo your hope for an awesome ending (but I'm not confident)!
