I really loved this episode too though. That was such a great moment, with Merlin having to tell Arthur such a horrible thing for his own good. ;__;

Yeah, hehehehe. I managed to catch up just two weeks ago XD; Watching 9 episodes in a row was really worth it ^^ Especially, I love the way that they're, I dunno, so married? XD

*nods* I cried at this episode. Seriously. It's so heartwrenching with Arthur and Uther and most of all, with Merlin ;_;

Okay I might be a little biased here, but I absolutely LOVED this fic :D I have to start by saying, flat you, that I love the way you write Merlin and Arthur. I read so many fics in this fandom that sometimes I feel like I'm all over the place when it comes to characterization. But the way you write these guys always, without fail, brings me back to the show and everything I get from them while watching them on screen. Their banter, the humor, the serious turns in their discussions, their equal care and feelings for each other (and the myriad of different ways they show it), everything is perfect down to the last look and the last tone of voice. When you say that you're writing a missing scene, you truly ARE writing a scene from the show in every sense. And the fact that you make it seem so natural and effortless makes me horribly jealous :P

You know, now that you mention it, back when I was reading a lot of fic, my characterizations kind of wavered back and forth a lot too, but I think now that it's been a while for me, reading-wise, maybe I'm just more focused on how I used to see them before I'd read anything? I was kind of trying too, with this, to keep it as in-canon as I could... So I'm glad that it seems to have worked. :D

It's kind of funny too--I think I maybe just wasn't as bothered by the end of this episode as you? XD To me it really felt like the only thing Merlin could do and... I don't know, it just almost seems like it would have been out of character for him to have done anything else... But anyway... I'm glad that my thoughts about what Merlin was thinking when all of that happened made sense. And that you liked it. <333 I figured I'd surprise you with this one, lol. ^_~

This was a really nice addendum to the episode! I really liked all the emotions Merlin went through. The ending really put the final scenes of the episode in perspective - Merlin may have betrayed himself and other people accused of magic, but otherwise Camelot would be in ruins. Not to mention Arthur would be broken as well. When you put things like that, Merlin's lie is understandable - commendable even. Great work!

Yeah, I definitely saw it as a commendable thing--a lie, sort of, but not entirely, you know? Because I do think Merlin doubts some of what happens with Morgause, and so... Given the situation, I think he really did the only thing he could have done. ;__;

Squeee! Nicely done! I also felt like the episode was missing a scene and I like how you filled in the gaps with this fic :). You definitely capture the characters' interactions with each other very well, including the emotional subtleties within each of their "looks" at one another.
