"And for 20 years i keep burning out, quitting my job, traveling around for a while, then going back to the same fucking job that i hate, because i happen to be very good at it."

I feel this. I feel this so much. I went into a Tech Career instead of a Creative Career because I was good at tech, and it paid better, and in the end, I didn't get any farther in my transition with tech money than I would have with Creative Money.

"And what then? Career change at 45? I suppose plenty of people have done it."

I'm trying to pivot back into Creative Work via scriptwriting though some channels that have opened recently. At 47 I'm not that hopeful, but "You can't win it, if you ain't in it."

I wish there was something that i was as passionate about doing as a job as you are about creative work. There are lots of things i do love to do - creative things included - but i don't want to do any of them for a job. For me just the thought of doing anything for a job - anything at all - makes me sick. I am already completely destroyed just from two weeks of looking for work, much less actually working. Anything i am forced to do just to survive... it just sucks all energy and enjoyment out of my life.

Ugh, decisions decisions.... I hope you manage to find something that's right for you! PS - your company descriptions are very good and made me chuckle :)

I spent a summer in Taiwan. It's a tropical island that is very developed. I liked it. It was very easy to be vegan there, and the food was really good. Also, there was a surprising level of techno there. I liked it a lot.

I had a friend from my first degree who went there to teach English, got a local girl pregnant, married her, and never left.
