Some of that graffiti is really cool - I also liked the orange slide and matching orange outline on the words - very cool!

That giant elevated freeway going around the city and ruining the waterfront is just...evil. It totally does show in a nutshell all that is wrong with urban development!

There are also plenty of modern glass skyscrapers in Panama, big shopping malls that look expensive on the inside... I just didn't take pictures of those things because i find them boring, you can find them in any tourist brochure.

But another interesting thing i noticed in southern China and also now in Panama... when you have warm weather and lots of rain, the buildings start to look "old" very quickly. Paint seems to erode much faster. Moss and fungus and vines start growing everywhere there is a crack or a bit of pooled water. It seems the climate really wants plants to grow.

I had no idea that the US invaded Panama until reading this entry, and have since gone down a wiki hole reading about it.

Yeah, it's wild just how much the US meddled in Panama's development. On one hand people here resent them for constantly sticking their nose in, but on the other hand there is some appreciation for the role the US played in helping to fund the canal and thereby help Panama achieve its independence from Colombia. It's complicated.
