I am a solo librarian in a tiny town, tiny library. One of my patrons came in and said her son wanted a book but she couldn't remember what book it was. I could tell somebody had fun with the "recent acquisition" display at the library today. The books on the right side all had a bright pink cover or spine (depending on which part was displayed), those on the left side were purple or mauve. IMMD.

So I work at a City library. There is currently only one library in this city, and any libraries around us are not connected in any way. [Though we can most certainly interlibrary loan!] If you do not live in an annexed area of the city or are not within the city limits you are considered a non-resident and an annual fee is charged. I was helping a patron today who wanted to pay her fines. She was talking about the fact that our hours have been reduced due to budget cuts. She said she couldn't understand how we could be having money problems with all the fines everyone pays - especially her.
