Just a few minutes ago, my wonderful son went over and started playing peek-a-boo with his little 2-month old cousin. She hadn't smiled since she got here...till he played with her. The he gave her a bottle, then sat on the floor next to her and read her a book for night-night.

All together now...Awwwwwwww.

My kids are really independent and self-sufficient and I LOVE it.

They surprise me sometimes.

Tonight I walked into the kitchen and Ben had made himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on toast.

Wow.

Today I went to the pulmonologist. They took a detailed history, talked to me, had a counselor show me how to take my Advair (or, rather, be really impressed that I was so good at it and that I'd read the package insert repeatedly), did a spirography test, did a set of breathing tests, took a chest xray, and set up an appointment for me to come ( Read more... )

OMG! Benjamin just showed me a fake tarantula he got in Speech and explained which were the legs, which were the fangs (which are what bite, you know), and how the bits that stick out at the back aaren't fangs although they look a little like it, but rather are "spinnerettes" and is now explaining how jumping spiders jump on bugs before they're ( Read more... )

So, my boy has been running a fever of 101.5+ (often +) CONTINUALLY since Friday. He's barely eaten anything, though he does continue to drink fluids on command (though not without resistance). The ibuprofin or tylenol will take his fever down for a bit, sometimes even all the way, but as soon as it wears off, the fever spikes back up ( Read more... )

Last weekend was the 4th bday party for mtgat's male offspring. We went to a Chuck-E-Cheese-like arcade that was MUCH cooler than the real house of mouse. The kids got SCADS of tickets and Ben chose, with his share, to get a bag of marbles, as he's been All About Marbles lately. Marie, a neighbor girl, just came over and Ben, without a single word from anyone, introduced her to toujourspret and then the other way round, pointing and gesturing and seeming for all the world gracious and polite and refined.

*I* never remember to introduce anyone. I'm so proud!
