Kid Bday Party and photos

Ben's party is today and we know of two folks who are coming. We'll see if the two from school who Ben THINKS are coming actually do. I have no idea what we're doing for adult lunch, but Husband has done most of the lawn and all of the gift wrapping. I have tidied the kitchen, done the dishes, and slain the beast ( Read more... )

I have acquired a large-ish animal. I cut it open, pulled out some of hte innards, stabbed it and sliced into it repeatedly, then filled it with sweet and tasty things.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I realized you were talking about a piñata. ;)

*beam*

It was doing it this time that I really processed how it's like a ritualistic animal slaughter, disembowelment, and then filling with tasty stuff and eating.

This year the stabbing to weaken is because last year we nearly re-enacted the scene from Parenthood with Steve Martin and a hand saw.

LMAO!!! I adore that scene, that movie *loves*

Did the party go fabulously? Look forward to pics!

I so know what you mean about the kids getting big.. Sophie makes me feel like this! So pleased Joe still not yet 4!

The party was LOVELY and low-key: two guests (plus their moms who are my friends), frozen pizza, Thai and Chinese food for the grownups, jealous neighborhood kids watching from the sidewalk (they're ELF's friends, not Ben's), actually good cupcakes from the store, glee over presents, kids playing video games...

It was lovely.

LOL This story reminds me of the pinata we got once for the Nephew...it was Darth Vader [well, his head], and at least he got to whack on it first, because when it was my turn I missed the first time....then whacked off his face! O_o He got a kick out of it, though.

Yay for parties!! [and he shouldn't be this old already!! Goodness, I'm going to be like Mom's friends before too long, not wanting to remember how old their friends' children are 'cause it reminds them of their OWN age. teehee]
