That thing about the elevator reminds me of this story by the guy who created The Ring.

This woman and her young child live in this old apartment building. Creepy stuff happens, secrets revealed, yadayada, then, when she's looking for her daughter, the elevator goes up even though no one's on it. Long story short, they were drinking this dead girl's body.

Are you sure you aren't staying at the Overlook hotel? If any little twin girls appear in the halls as well as the words 'Redrum' on any walls, get out of there.

That is sick. I never saw The Ring, but I have seen The Grudge, which is close enough to be very very disturbing.
