I was kind of stupidly expecting everything to still be covered in ash.
Ha, ha. Me too actually.
Btw I am sorry for not replying to your post earlier. Alas, I fear that is not enough time for me to visit Oxford again before going back. Also the three hour bus ride might just finish me off. Still, am glad that you had fun at the museum!
Ahhh, the Eternal City. Despite the traffic, heat/dust, noise and general overcrowding with tourists, given half a chance (and preferably free airfare and accommodation) I would revisit.
Your perspectives on Naples are..interesting. Why those shots, if I may ask?
accommodation is cheap if you don't mind roughing it, but yeah, airfares from singapore...
we spent barely any time in naples, so i didn't see much of it outside the old quarter (shown in the last picture). i guess naples, for me, was pretty much about the run-down back streets, the peeling paint on once-grand facades, the graffiti on the outside of shiny new metro stations.
Rome looks so intimidating and grand! Nice photos, though. Pompeii has been fascinating to me ever since we watched some documentary about it in history (way back in Sec 1 or 2).
And I have to ask, does Neapolitan ice-cream come from Naples? :D
