I feel silly making statements like this but really, come on now: this looks breathtaking. (And yeah, midnight? it looks like late evening! wow.) I particularly like this one, the way it illuminates the trees. Thanks for sharing!!

:D! the photos do lie, kind of - the nature of human night vision is such that it was a lot more greyscale-ish in real life. and hee, that's one of my favourite shots, too. thanks for the comment!
i can't take the credit: it was nature on the one hand, and my travel companion (with DSLR) on the other. my role was limited to occasionally telling him to point the camera at another patch of the sky. :D;; (there were often displays taking place in several different directions, which made documentation difficult.)
they were indeed amazing - in large part because of the sheer scale of the display, which can't really be captured on camera! we didn't film them, alas; i'm not sure we'd have had the technical capability to do so, as it was hard enough trying to get the settings right for still photography.

The auroras must have been breathtaking to watch. Did your group film them?
