I really like the beginning here - the idea of the box intertwined with how Lucius and Severus meet. The thing about the strand of hair and the ring were two of my favourite parts. I think it was nice how Lucius is more determined to find an heir than to take a chance with Severus, but it seemed a little odd for him to say "I'm sure you'll find somebody," as if he were taking responsibility or something. Er, I'm not sure if that makes sense.

I, um...am not sure if you wanted concrit, so if you don't just skip this.

I think Lucius would rather die than refer to Voldemort as Tom, mostly because I doubt Voldemort would let himself be known as such, and Lucius seems to smart to make that mix-up.

All in all, I really loved the tone of this. :)

Hmm. Understandable. I think I'm still stuck in pre-HBP canon sometimes because I always think that Lucius is one of the most important Death Eaters. Possibly it's because of the "slippery friend" comment in GoF. That just made me think that they were once friends (Lucius and the Dark Lord) even if they are no longer friends. But I understand your perspective as well.
