Fabulous story, mom! Poor Cupcake is suffering pancake/hotcake deprivation; or so she thinks, bless her. ;)

Portugal is lovely.

i do get that impression from pictures and the interwebs. all my relatives are from the Azore Islands, the Teresita to be exact.

we have been working on her deprivation. i think we've been making headway! '->

LOL @ the conversation!

We always had pancakes growing up and very rarely did we have waffles at home. When we went to visit one of our Aunt's she would make waffles since she had a waffle maker but we didn't have one.

Ok now I'm really hungry and I blame you. ;o)

We were in the states last summer and went to IHOP for the first time. HEAVEN! And as a result of said trip to the States we ended up buying a non stick waffle iron the day after we got back to the UK. = happy children.

I'm a big fan of pancakes myself :D

sometimes talking to little kids is fun.

eggos, really? tisk, tisk! back in the day, many moons ago, my brats got toaster waffles too, but i made them on the waffle iron, then froze them for later use on those rushed mornings! LOL

Out of the mouths of babes, hey?

We had pancakes while growing up, served with either warm golden syrup, or lemon juice and sugar. Both are utterly delish. I make them for my own kids now too and they love them just as much. *g*

Your grandmother's hotcakes sound absolutely gorgeous! I bet they were all light and fluffy too. Mmmmmmmm.
