You keep tantalizing me with snippets of backstory -grrr!

I can't wait to know what happened to River & Jayne when they were captured, and how they escaped. Obviously something traumatic happened to River, but I can't help feeling that something bad happened to Jayne, too. He seems changed, especially in the first few chapters.

I love how Jayne & Birdy are with each other. Beautiful devotion.

And Simon - I never did like him! A good beating would vastly improve the enobbish control freak. Too bad Birdy doesn't want him bruised.

She was probably easily frightened after living with that monster for two years. Simon vowed that he would kill Jayne for abusing her. I'm trying to be reasonable and see both sides and remember that Simon is a protective older brother who has lost and then "found" his "sister" but if only he would LOOK at how they act with each other and LISTEN to them...*sigh* I just want to yell "She's timid because of YOU" But then I realise that your story is so absorbing it makes me want to yell at my monitor and my roomates would look at me weird. Hmm...that was a compliment in a backwards way...here's a real one: Great job! Can't wait for more!
