HAHAHA! I remember that episode. It also reminds me of the time she froze him, as they were heading to the bedroom, and then slides across the floor because she tripped over his feet in the process or something along those lines. I remember the look on her face vs. the look on Pru and Phoebe's faces.
I admit to being quite ignorant myself until what can be considered fairly recently, but the thing that has me going *?* is the assumption that Hermione would even question her experience. I don't see any reason for her to go "Huh, I must have had sex before, I just don't remember it!" I mean, it's far more likely she thinks "it must have broken at some point without me even knowing at the time." Ya know?
I don't think I have ever thought more about a hymen than right now. :-P
It's sad that so many women are completely confused about what a hymen is...I think more folks know about it from romance novels or smutty fiction than from actual biology. There was some wank on one of the Dramione Yahoo Groups b/c a nurse tried to tell people where it really was...and people didn't believe her. :(
If the Silencio sequel follows along with canon, Ron and Hermione don't hook up until the end of Book 7; that's a year after she would have last done it with Draco. It could still be slightly uncomfortable after so long a dry spell, and Hermione would just think that was b/c it was the first time.
What is the obsession with a tiny piece of skin, anyways? I guess women never use tampons or sex toys before they've had sex...they'd deprive some nice boy the joys popping the cherry. :(

Yes, exactly. A couple of months could be enough to make it a little uncomfortable. Some women are sensitive like that.

Actually, even an intact hymen has a hole in it (allows for blood flow etc) so at least modern tampons shouldn't normally be a problem at all. As for sex toys, well... depends on the toy, I guess. ;)
But it's also possible for the hymen to not break with one guy while it does with another, or so I've heard. I'm not even sure that it entirely has something to do with his size. It's just... wacky biology.
As a teen, I had no idea of the details involved with losing one's virginity. I had some idea there might be blood, but that was all. I don't think this would be any issue - there are theories about this re: Silencio? Where? (Meanwhile, I'm a little queasy thinking that in the sequel she may have slept wth Ron.)
Btw, since I'm new to the ship and haven't reviewed much yet...I must tell you that Silencio is beyond brilliant, and has without doubt the must gut wrenching ending in ficdom. ::pardon my fangirling::

Mostly in various reviews and PMs I've gotten this past year. I was just reminded of it and decided I wanted to comment on it. Mostly, it just puzzles me that people think she'd question the experience at all.

lol, I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^ It's my special baby.
I totally see your point. Hermione has LOST her entire memory of the affair with Draco, so why would she question her supposed first experience? The first experience is, well, first; you don't know what to expect, and not everyone howls with pain or bleeds like a chicken, just as not everyone is superbly comfortable and performs like a pro, no pun intended. Theres no earthly reason why she'll want to pick apart her first time in her brain and think, wow, I must've popped my cherry and then lost my memory of it! And as Snowe pointed out, a long dry spell might still make it uncomfortable.
Whats in a hymen, anyway? Virginity is so over-rated. And I wish there was a hymen for men too that would bleed if the women are going to be subjected to a moral test. Double standards so piss me off.

You should look 'hymen' up on wikipedia, it's entertaining stuff. Some of it should be taken with a grain of salt, but I like the whole 'virginity (hymen) as a social myth' thing they have going. And I must admit that I'm just as annoyed as you on the whole moral thing.
Like, in ficcing. I don't actually mind it if Draco is sexually adventurous, but I really hate it when Hermione isn't allowed to be. And I don't mean with him. I mean before him. She's a healthy woman, an intelligent woman, a curious woman. Why can't she have a good, healthy sex life without being a slut? O.o
