Motherly Love
Mrs Vecchio remembered the first time she had met Benton Fraser. Her son Ray has brought home the lonely Canadian for dinner. The poor man did seem to need some friendship in a strange city. He was so polite, he had thanked her for her hospitality as she seated him at the table.
She had wondered why he so polite. He was so quiet too. Canadian did explain it, she'd never met a Canadian before, at least not one like her son's new friend. It was obvious too from that very first meeting that this man meant something to her son. Ray had brought home a stranger and whilst his mother couldn't fault him for that, she knew he had motives he was probably unaware of.
Her Raimundo had been alone for so long. Even when held been married he'd been alone. He had never found a kindred spirit but Mrs Vecchio had sensed that Benton Fraser was one in that first meeting. He had a quality in him that reminded her of her son.
She wasn't surprised they became such close friends so quickly. It was plain to anyone how they felt about each other, except of course the boys themselves. They had seem very surprised she had noticed long before they had. But she had known, she;s sensed something form that first dinner, something that had grown and blossomed into love.
Of course she;d never imagined at that first meeting that Benton Fraser would become her son in law, and more to the point that he would become her son in law through a relationship with her son. There was no doubt though she had liked him form the first, she;d known he was what her son needed. She was glad of that first meeting, of the chance to offer a lost soul a mother;s love. Now she had more reason that ever to do so. She would keep on doing so for Benton Fraser was family, and had been from that first meeting.
