Going a bit mad with my printer...

Latest obsession: Mini Calendars. I know, I know... The year is half over. None the less, I've been bitten by the creative bug.

It started with me wanting a calendar for Ianto's new home office... My muse felt that a pervy Katy Manning calendar would be a fun choice:

:))) Thanks! I *really* wish I could figure out proper lighting for taking pictures - I could *not* get a clear shot of the bulletin board. AUGH!

You never cease to amaze me!! The bulletin board, the rolled maps, and now the calendars. I am tempted to try making the Pros one, but am afraid my fingers wouldn't be able to do such small, fiddley work.

Thank you so much for sharing your brilliance.

Thank you for your unbearably kind words - Really, I'm *blushing*.

Pointing out the "rolled maps" just led my mind to the *strangest* place (and a sense of DEEP satisfaction...) My mother is constantly on my case about what a packrat I am and how I never throw anything out and my response is always that I only keep what I may need someday (really, I get rid of a lot of "garbage".) Those rubberbands around the maps...? They are from 25 years ago - specialty bands that hooked my braces together. They are the tiniest rubberbands around - you can't *buy* them. See? I TOLD HER I MIGHT NEED THEM SOME DAY! :)))

I'm a little gobsmacked they haven't decomposed, actually...

Thank you - I must say, a fair amount of the credit goes to my new printer... The quality of newer printers is really awesome!

Holy shit.

I make calendars all the time at work, and they're annoying and take forever, and you have to build the template, and the imposition is a confusing pain--and then the whole thing has to be remade every year. Ick. I am totally impressed by this--nevermind how tiny they are, they are bloody nice calendars! Hooooow did you do this? Did you already have a calendar and scan it, or did you find the pics and arrange the imposition on your own, or what?

Most excellent. I'm going to print one just because it's so CUTE. Have you tried it on glossy paper yet?

:))) Well, building the template (in Photoshop) did take a bit of fuss, but once I had it in place, producing additional calendars takes less time. I got the calendar pages from the internet - In this size they don't have to be very good quality. Printing real-sized stuff takes considerably more effort ( ... )

Still totally impressed! Especially when you break it down--having to construct calendars from scratch in a program like QuarkXPress is one thing, but this is like assembling a puzzle, only you don't know what pieces you'll end up with, and that's so crazy. But cool! You're so creative, dear.

As for glossy paper that works well in an inkjet printer...

Try either Konica brand or Kromekote. Konica makes an excellent inkjet photo paper you can probably find on amazon.com. Kromekote is better quality--probably the best of all the photo papers--but it's very expensive. You can also try Bindakote glossy cover. All of those should hold up well to the kind of stuff you make.

Lightweight stuff is harder to find. I might check HERE. Coated text is what you want--anything under 140gsm. Actually, that site has a section on inkjet papers, too. If you wanna look.

Hope that helps you!

Thanks for the paper tips - I'll see what I can find and give them a try!
