Situated comfortably in Tony's arms and curled against his body, Anna slept peacefully until after a few hours a loud crash woke her from her dreams. Anna jolted upright and - in a panic - grabbed her service weapon from under her pillow.

"Shh." She pressed a finger to his lips, brow furrowing as she heard a very faint noise that was reminiscent of footsteps. Flipping off the safety on her gun she quietly shuffled out of bed and crept down the hallway.

Tony was completely confused. He must have been fallen into a deep sleep because he had no idea what was going on.

He caught her weapon out of the corner of his eye and knew he needed to act- and fast. Realizing he was still in the same clothes he wore before they ended up in her bed, he noticed he hadn't removed his holster from his belt either. Drawing his weapon, he followed closely behind her, scanning in the dark as best he could for any intruders.

As she rounded the corner into her living room, letting Tony clear the bathroom on his way, Anna gasped when a hand shot out from the dark and clamped tightly over her mouth. The partner of the man Ziva had in custody had come back to finish the job of silencing the young NCIS agent.

Anna tried to fight back but as soon as she moved, the man's fingers closed around her neck with enough pressure on her carotid artery to render her weak and silent. Her gun fell from her hand and clattered against her floor as the man booked it down the fire escape with the half-conscious Anna slung over his shoulder. He hadn't anticipated DiNozzo being there, so he was going to improvise.

"Tony..." She coughed, hand coming from her throat to cup his cheek, a warm liquid dripping from her hand. In the fray, the man had taken the knife he carried and slit her throat.

However, the man was oblivious to the proper way to kill a person, and had tilted her head back enough that he avoided severing her trachea and major arteries.
