OK can anyone who has seen Batman Begins more than once (i.e not me) tell me if Arkham was depicted as being co-ed? I can't think of a better word :P From what little I remember it was more of a male only prison with a hospital & psych ward. I know in the comics & cartoon the ladies are kept (for the most part) on their own side but uh some help is ( Read more... )

Oy, the problem with Arkham in the Nolanverse is that it's depicted as this kind of combo prison/asylum thing, which doesn't really exist.
Most criminal psychiatric facilities are co-ed as you say, but they're separated and there is usually no interaction between men and women.
I would assume the same in Nolanverse!Arkham, though I like in the comics that the whole Gallery is together, personally.

I think in this one you can go any way you want, because Nolan really doesn't give enough info.

I checked the DVD, no women were depicted as inmates during the Arkham and riot scenes, but I think you can take a creative licence on this one.

It actually works in my favor if there was no women - thanks for confirming!

Wildly off topic, but Arkham is one of the few things to have left me disappointed with Nolan Batmans. I know it's asking a lot to keep its creepy-mansion-feel and at the same time fit into Nolan's Gotham, but. Arkham's my favorite. :(

You know I was very disappointed to not see Joker getting hauled off to Arkham or just acknowledged that he is there - that kind of ticked me off about the end of The Dark Knight.

I like the estate they used as Arkham but I don't agree it should be city center.
