Umoja: Unity
Well I lit the first candle for Kwanzaa which is the center one. It's color is black to represent the people. I said a short prayer about how the people and soil of Africa are black, the Mother Continent. It represents Umoja: The Unity of People and Community. Seven Principles and the Orixa
WEll there are 7 nights and principles of Kwanzaa. Although a Creolization, I love the imagery of the 7 African Powers. By Creolization I mean that some chose these 7 orishas to be put on a candle, not that these are official the seven main gods of the pantheon as there are actually 401 orishas.
