I got some blood drawn for tests the other day.  They are testing for a bunch of things.  I among them I know are tests for hepatitis, diabetes, HIV, and some sort of thyroid tests.  I am not sure beyond that; the doctor was scribbling a bunch of notes on a paper, but I didn't really see everything she was testing.  I do hope that the tests yield ( Read more... )

Just give the docs a call in about 2 weeks and ask for your results. Everytime I've had bloodwork done, they gave me the results over the phone.

::noddle:: Will try and keep note of that. I know that when I had blood tests done in New Jersey, they called me to ask when I was coming to get my antibiotics; I had to ask them why I would be going there to get antibiotics. I'm hoping they'll call me when they get my results, but if not, I'll call them periodically to check.

I have Type II Diabetes and control it with Glucophage (metformin's the generic one) and watching what I eat. I'm not sure how "adaptable" these would be with your other dietary problems, but I rely heavily on the recipes in the South Beach Diet cookbooks and am looking into the Mediterranean Diet cookbooks.

As for vitamins, I read an article today on Yahoo! News that said a lack of vitamin D can cause strokes and heart attacks. Considering that my doctor gave me a prescription for that particular vitamin (I guess the stinker didn't think he could rely on me purchasing same once I got back downtown ::giggles:: ), I'd say it's pretty important.

Take care and hang in there sweetie. ::hugs::

::huggle:: Ya, limiting what I eat and taking a gluten-free B complex are the only ways I'm managing my diet right now. The doctor did give me a script for a multivitamin, so I guess I'll have to see about filling that. I'll wait to see what the test results say and go from there.

Yeah. It's always the wait and see when it comes to test results. ::hugs::
