Hi Aearwen -- heartbreaking to have to move from your long time home with such memories, but it sounds like you've reasoned it out and it's the right thing to do. I think we're at that time in life. This past week we had to downsize my mom from her 2 bedroom apartment to 1 bedroom in memory care and that's meant a lot of stuff (and memorabilia) has now shifted to my house that's already overfull of stuff. I can't imagine how much work it would be to move from my house at this point, but likely it'll have to happen at some point in the future. Best wishes to you! And yes, the jury duty is very likely to take your current circumstances into consideration, even if they require you to show up for the selection. Big hugs and best wishes.

If your jury system is anything like mine, you're able to postpone your service ONE time, but the next time you won't be able to have any excuse (I suppose if you're under medical care, that might be accepted, but if you're ambulatory in any way, you're on call).

I'm glad you found that the two-bedroom double-wide will work for the two of you. My "brother" on the Rez had a double-wide, and it was damned nice!

I feel very sad for you but also excited on the new chapter in life. I watch a channel on Youtube that tours trailers and prefab home, and some of them are way nicer than my own. At least the bathrooms and kitchens are. You'll have to show us photos once you get dettled in. Otherwise, how have you been, m'dear?

I'm hanging in there - as well as learning first hand that I really do NOT want to have to play the real estate game very often. Today has been a rollercoaster; started out the morning hearing the sale of my old house had fallen through, then was made a newer (better) offer and gave the new potential buyers a walking tour of the place. Ended the day with the house entering a new escrow for a decent bump in price and a few other nice perks that weren't there before. Closing & move-out dates adjusted accordingly - hopefully all finished by end of July. The chaos was worth it in the end, but made for a helluva ride ( ... )

Hi, there! :)

Since we've talked about much of this stuff on the phone, I didn't really feel that I needed to say much about things here in the Comments, though it was good to see the post from you and everything laid out so thoughtfully.

While as you say the whole thing is a mess to handle, I'm sad about what you're going through but also excited at the new chapter of life that you're starting here. I'm looking forward to seeing photos and stuff of the new place once you're settled in.

Hang in there, m'dear. We'll talk soon again, I hope.
