Without an umbrella or raincoat, she was already soaked. Usagi smiled anyway, waved quickly, and hurried over to Sokka, as if their proximity to each other would fend off some of the rain.
"I'm so glad you came." Of course the people were even more important, and she was doing - and would do - everything she could to help their efforts, but this was important to her, too. She couldn't help being glad Sokka saw it as worth his time, too.

Proving he'd thought ahead, Sokka offered his extra coat to Usagi. The outside was wet, but it repelled water so the inside was still dry, and since it was fur-lined with a hood, it would keep her from getting cold. "Here," he held it out to her so she could step inside.
"It's not so bad out, right?" Sokka asked this hopefully, though he was squinting from the falling rain. He was fortunate enough to not have a lot of loose hair, so being in the rain without a hood was more a nuisance than anything; still, every so often Sokka was forced to squeegee it away with a swipe of his hand. "At least there's no hail."

"Come on, let's find Uni!" They never had found another name that stuck, so Uni would have to be content to be named rather unimaginatively. Usagi laid a light hand on Sokka's arm, as though to reassure herself they wouldn't get separated in the rain.
She called his name a few times first, but when that failed to produce an answer right away, she edged closer to the water.

Forced nearer the water, Sokka found himself linking his and Usagi's arm for fear of one of them slipping. He called behind them for the foal, but couldn't see past a tree lingering in the distance.
"Maybe we should walk a little and see if we can't scare him up," he suggested, gesturing to the expanse of open space in front of them.
