Everything was finally finished. How long had she slaved over hot pots and pans? The turkey had been the biggest pain in the ass to cut up and she was sure she smelt like blood after pratically air-bathing in the damned dead bird,

Leaning up against the wall in the kitchen, Ai grabbed at a handkerchief and wipped at her head. It was so warm inside the house, the idea of taking off her clothes, running naked outside and hopping in the lake sounded marvelous but she was here for Jean and the guests.

This would be the first holiday she'd spend with a "family" in years. Even if it wasn't one of tradition from her own country, it still excited the kogal. Now it was time to hope nothing she made tasted bad.

Jean came over to Ai with a small glass in his hand, filled with some nice cold water from the snowfridge he had made just outside the back of the house.

"Here you go Miss Chef, waitor Jean to serve you your water - well deserved I may add. Smells good and uh...Between us? Tastes even better. Shh I snuck some when Squall had his back turned."

"Just in time. I was dehydrating out my head." Grinning, she took the cup of cold water from Jean with a nod of her head in thanks. Placing it to her lips, she looked back at him sheepishly when she finished it.

"Like a kid. Do we need to set up a kiddie table for you? No pumpkin pie until you finish everything else, sweetie~" Ai teased.

Jean laughed softly, out her head hm? He let her take the cup its not like he was going to hold it for her anyway and have her fill of water. He did take it for her after when it was empty he knew she needed her hands free with all the things she'd undertaken on herself. Even if he and the unlikely house guest were there to give a hand.

A second laugh came from him when she teased him like a kid, "D'awh~! C'mon I'll eat twice the vegetables next time dinner rolls around?" and then a serious moment of lightbulb went on in his mind, "Wait, there's pumpkin pie?!"

That started him on the quest for the holy grail.

Jean clapped Squall on the shoulder as he came over and gave it a good solid pat then took his hand off his shoulder, "Don't look so glum! It's a party!"

He does a terrible looking little side step from side to side, "Dance! Enjoy yourself, anything!"

Jean stopped his little horror show of hip and arm movement to laugh when Squall gave him that Mustang-esque jab he was used to from the men in his life around him, "Ahuh. I'd like to see the day you can out shimy shake a Havoc. We were born to dance!"

Winry was glad for the opportunity to meet more people, and with the dinner being at Havoc's she knew the way and thus wouldn't get lost. She had tried to persuade Ed and Al to come along with her, and paused as she had knocked and entered, looking around for anyone she knew already.

The idea of having dinner with others was comforting. Sure, she had Granny back home, and Den, but this was different. She was with the brothers again, and had the chance to meet all kinds of new people from all over now. She wanted to make the most of it.

Havoc looked over from the table he was at currently making sure that everything was going as planned - or as planned as possible - when he hears the knock at the door.

He walks over and opens it, smiling widely at Winry, "Welcome! Welcome, Miss Rockbell, come on in!"

He steps to the side, holding the door open for her, "Grab some food, have a drink, all that sorta stuff, you're here before a few others!"

Winry gave a smile when Jean had let her in, answering the door. "Hi! Ed and Al should be coming, I think. This was really nice of you to have us over, thank you!" Of course, she wanted him to know she appreciated all he had done, for her when she had first arrived and for everyone else like this. It really was nice of him to offer to have everyone stay for dinner at his place and all.

Winry nodded and entered, obeying and making her way to the drinks, taking one to sip on as her gaze wandered to the others. She figured everyone else would probably still be on their way.

Jean's smile stayed plastered to his face. He was truly happy that people WERE showing up, and that one of them just so happened to be the nicest person he'd met from Resembool since Alphonse. Jab at Ed? Sure it was but he liked his boss anyway too, "No problem Miss Rockbell. It's about time we all got together and had some fun right?."

He closes the door so the cold won't come in, the tables are along the walls in the modestly large kitchen/living room area with food and drinks and places to sit that look hand made from planks of wood and round pieces of tree trunk cut for the legs, "So how've you found Adstring so far?"

Riza arrived what she considered early, just in case she needed to offer her help with anything. She wasn't known for her culinary arts, but she knew her way around a kitchen well enough.

She brought with her an apple pie, having asked Mrs. Hughes if she could teach her how to make one. She knew it wouldn't live up to the legend, but she figured it would be good to try anyway. Also, Havoc's house was still relatively new, so the pie could double as a housewarming gift.

Knocking on the door, she waited and hoped this experience would be a good one.

Havoc was pleased that people seemed to actually be coming to it, wondering vaguely if it were to have been held at home if such a turn out would have been possible. Then again these people weren't at home.

Distracted by the door being knocked on, Havoc wanders over to it once more after already having let Winry in and opens it up. He smiles widely and steps aside from the door, holding it open for Riza, "Lieutenant Hawkeye! Welcome, come on in. 'S cold out side. Hey pie!"

Let's hope it's good, then! arrayed_back November 28 2009, 08:15:41 UTC
Once the door opened and Riza saw Havoc, she smiled genuinely. It was a relief to see him running around after that vampire incident. She did as told and came into the house, setting down the pie on the table where there was some room.

"I hope I did Mrs. Hughes' recipe some justice." Taking off her coat, she looked to Havoc. "Is there a specific spot for these?"

Jean closed the door behind his very pretty welcome guest, and turned to face her, smiling still, "I'm sure it's just fine Lieutenant, it smells wonderful!" He regarded her jacket and then extended his arm, "Goes over my arm until I can take it to the coat rack for ya of course. Which is my room. It's got locks on it and the windows are boarded up. So no worries about losin' somethin'."

Maes came to the door bearing gifts. After being told about the holiday he'd done some research in the library - apparently mashed potatoes were expected. So he'd made them. He was hoping they'd go over well; he didn't believe in showing up empty handed. Especially here, where resources were limited. Shifting the hot dish around in his hands, Maes managed to knock on the door.

He just hoped he didn't wind up scarring poor Havoc too much. It was always rough re-meeting someone again that thought he was dead.

Jean almost felt like it was his birthday and each time the door opened it was a brand new gift of another person coming to take part in the giving of thanks and killing of man-eating birds. He strolled up to the door with his water in his hand and opened it up to see just who was behind door number one this ti-..

The huge smile he'd been wearing all day faded away and he had to remind himself to hold the glass tightly in his hand so it wouldn't drop, "Brigadier General Hughes.." was all he could make out for a few seconds until all Jean could be was glad to see him.

Slowly, like the living ghost in front of him, his smile appeared back on his face and he once again stepped aside from the door, "C'mon in, it's cold out there!"

All righty, we're saying that if Gracia and Elysia show up, they show up later... brig_gen_maes November 29 2009, 01:16:18 UTC
As the door opened, Maes smiled. It was a gentle smile, not his energetic beam. Sometimes the reactions were hard on him too - this was a smile he could maintain no matter what.

When Havoc's smile faded, Maes nodded gently. "Lieutenant Havoc. It's good to see you again. It's been a while. How have you been?"

Maes stepped in at the invitation, glad to see Jean starting to recover. "Thank you! It's certainly getting chilly! Though my hands are toasty warm! Where should I put the food?"

He glanced around. Already the party looked like it was going well.

Havoc knew the questions of smalltalk nature were out of pleasantries to get past the fact they'd all mourned at his grave, taken flowers to it and said condolences to his wife and tried their best to be big strong soldiers. At the same time, he was glad for it. And glad it was done with.

"Been pretty good, Sir. Pretty good indeed."

He closed the door after Maes was through it, chuckling as Maes' humour came back to him, "Let me take that for you sir, I'll set it on the table by the turkey. Major Elric brought some wine earlier as well so please help yourself to that and any other you see around here. My house is your house."
He extended his hand to take the dish if Maes would let him the honours of it.
