[One Bad Egg] My Involvement

Oct 01, 2008 11:32

Okay, so I have been involved in this little project for a few weeks and now that it's hatched, I can talk about it. From here on out, there shouldn't be a lot of secrecy about the company and its projects. Part of the charter is to work openly and share our ideas with gamers ( Read more... )

Thanks for this commentary and insight. To be completely blunt, I'd run 4e for some folks, and played it, and was pretty much deciding that there wasn't anything there compelling enough for me to stay with it, at least from the DM's point of view.

And then I kept reading on Fred's & Rob's LJs about all the possibilities and fun they were seeing in 4e, and I was thinking "do what? what am I missing here?"

And yes, I actually did think "do what?" It's a Southern thing that we're apparently born with as an immediate response to anything we don't get. :)

So, I have a love/hate relationship with OBE already -- I want to NOT like 4e because I don't see much there that I can't find elsewhere and YOU BASTIGES are saying "hey, what about this?" :)

To love D&D, you have to embrace the combat. You have to go into a game with the mindset, "My character is awesome and she's going to kick some ass today ( ... )

You mean playing a witch doctor, right? You're not really a witch doctor in real life. Come back to us, Chad...

Completely peanut-gallery aside, from a fan of pretty much the whole crew's work:

When you folks go to do the deities, and work that Encounter Power in, I'd strongly encourage seeing whether it's possible to give them an appropriate Epic Destiny power to slot into the Chosen One Epic Destiny that was released in the Forgotten Realms material. Not sure how the legalities work for that, but it's a nice ED that varies *just a bit* depending on which deity has "chosen" the PC.

Anyhow, just a thought.

I'm just one writer/editor on the project, but I'll definitely recommend it to Fred and the gang! Yeah, we have to make sure it doesn't violate the license.

I don't want people monkeying around in my campaign! (Yeah, I know, they're not monkeys.)

I LOLed at "The Ranger never kills anything." I hope she reads that.

The Apelord has some really cool stuff in it, but I'm not hot on the pulp stuff myself. I'd use the apelord monsters for sure though.

OBE's witch doctor is fun, and we have some gods I'd port into my world. Some of the creepier Shroud stuff fits well into Transit's gothic-horror slot.
