Marita's funeral will be held in the Heysen Chapel at Centennial Park on Thursday 8th July 2010 at 1:30 pm. We have asked for no flowers but donations either to Oxfam or Medicins sans Frontieres. These were Marita's favoured charities.

Marita died at around 1 am on Thursday 2nd July.

Marita's life is moving slowly to a close. Her breathing became very difficult this morning. This afternoon she slipped into unconsciousness. Justine, Juliette and Robin are spending the night in the Hospice to ensure she is comfortable. Diana arrived this afternoon from Ballarat. Marita was very tired today and slept through most visits. She ate little, but often. Chris felt he heard a stomach rumble which implies that something is moving through the system. We hope so. Marita was so much more comfortable without the nasal tube that she decided to leave it out and see how it goes. It is wonderful to see her without it, looking more her beautiful self. If her stomach becomes bloated and painful again it will have to be replaced. She was sleepy in the morning, but brighter in the afternoon. She ate some friandes ( Read more... )

M is still very weak and dozes a lot of the time. This morning her nasal tube draining the stomach fell out and will have to be replaced. This is about to happen. R is visiting her this morning and I will be in around the middle of the day. Happier news is that S became a father again in absentia two days ago when Bennett was born. S had to ( Read more... )

Marita is very weak and sleeping frequently throughout the day. Sunday and Monday she was off the glucose drip, which seemed to make her quite a bit weaker and much more tired. Yesterday we asked the doctors to put her back on the glucose, which did seem to make her a bit brighter ( Read more... )
