Hi,

can you help me get over my R/S depression? Lately I've felt so tired reading about the same things again and again. So, what I'm looking for are fics without clichés, especially gender stereotypes bug me.

What the story should not include:
- blond girls with miniskirts and no personality who either fool around with Sirius in order to make Remus ( Read more... )

Here's a few--not fanfiction.net, but not a cliche among them, and frankly you could probably go through everything on these author's masterlists/tags and not find too much of those cliches (uh, myself included *sheepish ( ... )

Wuff, I have to say that I love the request! It’s the best one that I’ve read in ages! The only thing that I found problematic is that you want the recs from ff.net. You do realize that the things you list are the main reasons that so many avoid ff.net and call it the pit of voles ( ... )

Wow, I'm overwhelmed by the sheer amount of recs! That will certainly leave me occupied for some time.

Yes, I know, I know ... But that was actually the prupose of this request: To find the good stories on ff.net between the cliché filled ones. The reason why I don't read so much on LJ is because such a huge amount of the stories posted here seems to be just about the sex. Which is fine as long as it's labelled as pure porn but it gets kind of predictable if also so many of the really well-written one-shots end invaribly with a NC-17 sex scene. At least that's the experience I've made so far. Maybe I just haven't found the good LJ PG-13 fanfics yet.

This just illustrates why this community is so important. Fans here can ask to be pointed in the direction of stories chosen within a specific set of parameters and someone almost always comes through! Those few requests that aren't fulfilled aren't for lack of trying to help but for lack of enough info or too narrow a focus. The two newsletters and the rec letter can also be very helpful in that they troll every week for what's new and give links, ratings and summaries. They don't cover ff.net though. But they will mention your search ( ... )
